Rhodes is famous as the island of sun, sea and sand, the ideal place for vacations. It is the third largest Greek island and, officially, the sunniest place in Europe. The City is among the finest, not only in Greece but in the whole of the Mediterranean. It is situated at the island's most northerly point and ringed by sea on the east and west. Rhodes (Rodos in Greek) combines the cosmopolitan character of a contemporary city with the picturesque of the medieval town, which gives the impression of having been untouched by the passage of time.
Ialysos is a very green and fertile city, just 5Km from Rhodes main town, with the pine filled mountain of Filerimos rising arrogantly behind it.
Based on Mycenae findings, its history begins during the middle age of the Copper Era, continues through the age of the Knights, with characteristic landmark, the Towers of the Knights at the valley, the reconstructed church of the Knights and continues on to the 17th century with the church of Kimisi tis Theotokou that is situated in the main square.
The city is known for its landmarks, its natural beauty and colours.
